What courses are available?
During 2016–2017, over 30 courses are offered for students in accredited and non-accredited programs. Additional courses are planned for future years. Note that AP Music Theory is available as an independent course only, and is sold in the Store. It is not included with any Family School plan. Lessons and assignments for AP Music Theory are located in enrolled students’ Canvas Accounts only and are not found on TheFamilySchoolOnline.org.
What does a typical week schedule look like?
Classes meet once per week on Tuesdays or Thursdays. A typical student takes six or more classes. Students in the self-paced accredited program and non-accredited program can set their own schedule. Students in the online due-date structured accredited co-op program follow the calendar established by Latter-day Learning, with live, webinar-based classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Students in the 2016–2017 Accredited Online Cohort will be enrolled in the following High School Year 4 Core classes and Written Portfolio II, which will be taught live:
*Understanding of some algebra concepts is needed for optimal participation in the Physics course. Please refer to the following list: Saxon Algebra Lessons to Prepare for the High School Physics Course In addition, the required textbook for Physics is Conceptual Physics 8th Edition by Paul G. Hewitt. Amazon has plenty of used copies at low prices.
Students admitted to this program may also enroll in independent study, self-paced, accredited electives manner at no additional charge.
Is there a calendar to follow?
Classes are taught on days shown in the 2016–2017 calendar. Lessons are discussed online according to the 2016-2017 Online Cohort Webinar Lesson Number Schedule.
What about grades, report cards and transcripts?
Students in accredited programs may access their grades anytime from within their student account in Canvas, which is the learning management system used to manage assignment submission, feedback and grading. Transcripts are prepared upon request, and mailed as requested by the student or parent.
What does a transcript look like?
You may view a sample transcript here. Transcripts may include as few as 1 credit and many as 35 credits or more.
When do I pay tuition?
Tuition is charged to your credit card seven days after you sign up at TheFamilySchoolOnline.org, and each month thereafter.
